Christmas is around the corner and winter's frost decorates Sweden's streets. Here on the sunny coast, winter has also arrived, but we haven't seen any frost or snow. December offers lovely sunny days but of course slightly cooler nights. In this fantastic climate, we can still play padel in short sleeves or have lunch on a sunny outdoor terrace. But the beauty of Solkusten is that only 1.5 hours from Malaga is the southernmost ski resort in Europe, Sierra Nevada. With a whopping 120 slopes to choose from and exceptional snow treatment.
The facility has been open since November 25 and is expected to be open until April for skiing. During the summer months there are also "themed weekends" that take place here. The temperature is then around 20 degrees and offers pleasant offers with accommodation, swimming pool and various kinds of activities. Everything from nice hiking routes, mountain biking, climbing, astronomical observations of the moon, etc.
In the valley there are plenty of services such as grocery stores, ski equipment rental, ski and snowboard schools, several restaurants, babysitting and playground and a wide range of comfortable modern accommodation. If you don't want to stay overnight in the village, Granada, a beautiful city with an interesting history, several monuments, good tapas restaurants is only 32 km away. Once there, we recommend a visit to Spain's most visited monument, the Alhambra, a magnificent palace area known for its unique architecture and history.
But how do you get there? If you don't have access to a car, there are buses from several towns along the coast that will take you there in an hour or two.
Have you planned to celebrate Christmas or New Year in a new place this year? Why not combine a sun holiday and skiing on the Costa del Sol!
