Easter, or Semana Santa, is one of the most important holidays in Spain and is celebrated with deep-rooted traditions, processions, and a truly unique atmosphere. Throughout the week, many cities – especially in Andalusia – come alive with solemn and beautiful religious parades featuring statues, live music, and participants in traditional robes.
Unlike in Sweden, where Easter is often centered around candy and Easter eggs, the Spanish celebration is a moving and historical event marked by faith and culture. Families gather for shared meals, and the streets are filled with locals and visitors alike, taking part in the festivities.
