Magical excursions!
Another magical weekend on tour in our beautiful landscape! This time we went a little further south, the first stop was in cozy Tarifa which is a mecca for all surfers. Inside the old ring wall there are narrow, small, charming streets, lovely shops and many really good restaurants. So if you go there do not miss to go into the old part, the slightly newer part is a bit charmless - there are not even balconies on the houses;)
The beaches after Tarifa towards the Atlantic coast are wide, long, almost endless. The beach I like best is in Bolonia, really beautiful dunes and nice and clear water. Remember that if you go like this in high season, bring food or book a table at one of the restaurants well in advance, they get full quickly.
However, we chose to have lunch in Los Zahara de los Atunes. Of course we ate super good tuna in all the forms - tartar, grilled, breaded, grilled etc. It is such a cozy and nice city, not so big but well worth a visit. Charming town, cute shops and nice beach.
Something you can avoid is Barbate, we happened to end up there. However, we stayed in a very nice and personal hotel, but the rest of the city was not for us.
Quickly moved us to Vejer de la Fontera and there we will return. Wow so good food! We sat down at Plaza de Espana, which I think every tourist visits as it is very beautiful and full of lovely restaurants. There we settled down at the first best tapas place and it was so good, not just some sausages and olives (iofs good) but here it was with completely new and exciting flavors and so nicely laid out. Garimba Sur was the name of the restaurant and I can highly recommend it!
